Paco Park
It is located in General Luna Street, Manila. Dominican Fathers built it in 1820. Paco Park is a 4,114.80 square meter cemetery back in the day but it is now a recreational area where people go picnic, play outdoor activities and watch “Paco Park Presents”. Musical talents and chorales are featured every Friday in “Paco Park Presents”; examples are classical and traditional music performances. It is also used as a venue for weddings or other events because it also has a chapel.
Dominican Fathers built this park because they want a place where they can bury the Spanish elites. Paco Park was once a cemetery for the autocratic families who passed away in Old Manila or Intramuros during the Spanish era. When Jose Rizal got executed, he was first buried in Paco Park and was buried back in Luneta. Also, the well-known Mariano Gomes, Jose Burgos and Jacinto Zamora or also known as GOMBURZA were buried here. This place is significant for the Philippines because a lot of people who fought for the freedom of the Philippines were buried here
